The Morning Coffee Run

Every weekday morning, I follow the same exact routine. Wake up, walk to school and walk home with a pit stop at my favourite of Rome coffee bar. I’m lucky and I know it because my walk takes me through some of the most beautiful streets and piazze of Rome’s centro storico, and even better, it leads me to Sant’Eustachio Il Caffe, the city’s historic and beloved bar.

Since 1938, Piazza Sant’Eustachio caffe has been serving up espresso, cappuccino, latte macchiato and more to Rome’s politici, glitterati, literati and me. The delicious coffee drinks, the unforgettable yellow and the beautiful signage keep Romans and more coming back to the caffe all day and late into the evening. Owners Raimondo and Roberto Ricci keep to tradition with the original design of the caffe and in their hospitality philosophy which trickles down to the sugar- you’ll have to listen in to find more..

I thought it was about time I shared with Ciao Bella the secrets to why Sant’Eustachio is so delicious, and introduce you to the next generation Federica Ricci. In this episode and over a latte macchiato, Frederica shares the history of Sant’Eustachio il Caffe, from the piazza’s ancient origins to her father and uncle’s passions for selecting fair trade coffee and roasting. Fede divulges a few secrets you definitely should know.

Want More?

You don’t have to be at the bar or even in Rome to enjoy Sant’Eustachio. The historic coffee bar has a great storefront and an e-shop so you bring a little bit of Rome into your home and on your stove top. Visit Sant’Eustachio Il Caffe shop and you can order coffee, coffee treats like chocolate covered beans, and my favourite Sant’Eustachio moka (coffee pot) and tazze (cups) in that beautiful signature yellow.

Federica wants you to say hello on Instagram, so make sure to send her a message
