Bottling Green in Montepulciano, Tuscany

SALCHETO

iTunes | Stitcher | Spotify | iHeartRadio

A certified carbon footprint of a bottle of wine? Off-the-grid and in the bottle, Salcheto is the first winery in the world that runs entirely on renewable energy. And it’s all naturally homegrown, aged and bottled in Montepulciano, Tuscany.

Eno-sustainability champion Michele Manelli and winemaker Michele Manell founded Salcheto about 30 years ago and ever since has pioneered a more sustainable landscape of enoculture in Italy.

Winemaker, wine lover, eco-warrior and not afraid to wear pink, Michele has revolutionized the hills and valleys of Tuscany’s Val d’Orcia since 1997. In 2011, he completely rebuilt Salcheto’s cellar to the innovative sustainable tech available and ever since, Manelli has produced award-winning organic and sustainable wine.
