A fairytale of a shoemaker and a stiletto
Italy and shoes are synonymous, and it’s not surprising. Take a look at the country’s topography- shaped remarkably like a boot – and then add in its history of expert shoemaking artisans. Stivali, ciabatta, scarpe, sandali, what ever the tog, any where you walk, you’ll notice beautiful shoes. Over the years, I’ve been dazzled by the sparkling fairy princess stiletto crafted by René Caovilla since I first spotted a pair more than 20 years ago in Los Angeles. In this episode, I sit down with Eduardo Caovilla, the CEO and creative director of René Caovilla, and grandson and son of fabled shoemakers, to talk about stiletto magic, and all things Italian excellence. As the son of the legendary Veneto shoemaker whose brand has been supplying countless feet with fashion since 1934, Eduardo has had big bejewelled shoes to fill. Grab yourself a seat and rest your tired feet as you learn all about the bejewelled slippers perfect for any kind of Cinderella.
