Torino-based artist Alexander Van Glitch blurs the lines of art, digital and crypto. His pseudonym is more than a name, it’s future forward artistic philosophy deftly navigates the traditional and physical art world as well as digital and conceptual spaces. Van Glitch’s work traverse genres from portraiture to glitch and nano art and NFT (non-fungible tokens).
Record scratch, NFTs? I know what you are thinking. What is an NFT art work? NFTs are one-of-a-kind digital assets that can be bought and sold like any other piece of property, but have no tangible form of their own. NFT art makes you reevaluate the concept of “one of a kind” to a digital and even conceptual construct as these digital tokens are essentially certificates of ownership for virtual (or physical assets), that can be bought and sold.
So, it’s not about the physical artwork itself nor digital file (like a JPEG, PNG or GIF file), it is about ownership of the certificate of ownership. Makes sense? Join Erica and Alexander Van Glitch for a conversation on the future of art, NFTs and Alexander’s work.
I have one eye looking to the past, and one to the future
