Gucci Osteria. I know what you’re thinking – haute couture and food don’t mix. But that’s not the case when superstar chef Massimo Bottura steps. In 2018, Bottura and Gucci formed the creative alliance of Gucci Osteria, a very stylized (under Alessandro Michele) styled osteria in the historic Palazzo della Mercanzia, a historic palace in Florence’s Piazza della Signoria. I didn’t want to like it, but I had no choice once I tasted executive chef Karime Lopez’s tostadas.
Tostadas, Gucci, Bottura and Florence- it’s a recipe of insanity. Beautiful and creative insanity. And it was love at first bite. In this episode, I’m joined by Chef Karime Lopez, the essential ingredient to the success of Gucci Osteria. Karime has traveled the world from home country Mexico to Europe and back to South America, just to get to Florence. No stranger to culture shock, Karime brings her multicultural culinary journey into the kitchen and the rewards are worth it. Collaborating with Massimo Bottura brough her into the kitchen of Gucci Osteria where she showcases all of her cultural culinary experiences, mixed with a lot of love (hint: the story is in the podcast). Karime is a super star, and Mexico’s first women chef to achieve Michelin star recognition. Join us.
